Kinetic Sculptor and Engineer: Marco Kruyt

As a child - born in 1975 in Rotterdam - I was always fascinated by technology and the beauty of nature.
In my young years I have developed skills in the field of modelling, especially flying objects.
I've studied architecture and biochemistry, and now I work part time as a senior engineer for a major contractor in the Netherlands.

In 1999 I joined the Antistrot collective.
I have made many objects for Antistrot collective, which are exhibited in museums and galleries in the Netherlands and abroad.

In 2008 I started making kinetic art under my own name.
I have created a workshop in which I now have the opportunities that I have aspired to since childhood.

I use computer-controlled milling machines and lathes for the production off my objects, something that gives me unlimited freedom in form and function.

My work is a reflection of nature, seen through the eyes of a technician.
The combination of mathematical produced machine parts, and the freedom of form of needlework I find inspiring.

The love for nature is reflected in the work I do with the animal kingdom and the organic structure as prominent actors.
